Good Fast and Cheap
People often speak of the idea that there are generally three things you want when trying to make something happen: you want it to be good, fast and cheap. However, they also say that the truth is that you can only have two of these things exist at once and that you cannot have the third. For instance, if you are remodeling your kitchen, it can be good and fast, but it won’t be cheap. Or, it can be fast and cheap, but it won’t be good. Or, it can even be good and cheap, but it won’t be fast. You can imagine how you could apply this theory to nearly anything.

Prague News :: Camera Ready
Date : November 05, 2008

People speak of Prague’s beauty, of the buildings and bridges and river and castles. The city is camera ready and it’s no wonder so many films have been made and continue to be made here.

The history of using Prague as a film location is long. If we go back just twenty years we see films like Amadeus (’84), Kafka (’91), Immortal Beloved (’94), Mission Impossible (’96), Spy Game (’01), XXX (’02), Bourne Identity (’02), and Tristan & Isolde (’05) all found a home in this gorgeous city. Because of its many facets, it does not only play itself, but also manages to mask its streets as other European cities quite well.

In 2008, keep your eye out for film crews and perhaps prepare to be star struck as a new movie has planned to begin filming in the Czech Republic. “Therese Raquin” adapted from the 1867 novel by Emile Zola, which, so far, stars such heavy hitters as Glenn Close, Gerard Butler and Giovanni Ribisi will set some of its scenes here.

Many film friendly cities like New York, for instance, offer numerous perks to producers to encourage them to choose the city as a location. It not only promotes the city to the movie-going world acting like a very long commercial, it also brings industry and creates an interest in the art of the making of films. Karlovy Vary hosts a very well respected International Film Festival and it is no doubt due, in some part, to the fact that for many, many years Prague and the Czech Republic has been the backdrop for a wealth of really wonderful cinematic endeavors.
