Aloha Wave Lounge is a fantastic Hawaiian-themed cocktail and music bar hidden away down one of the less busy streets of the Old Town in Prague. The bare brick walls are covered with memorabilia from Hawaiian surf-culture spanning from the thirties to the sixties, the corners are populated with potted plants and there are leis for sale behind the counter. Aloha Wave Lounge creates a highly laid back atmosphere with a good blend of both international attendants and Czech locals, and beautiful grass skirted hostesses. There are constantly new theme-parties to dress up for, from the “Bizarre Party” to the “Red Light District Party”.
Located at Dusni 11, Old Town, Prague 1, Aloha Wave Lounge is just a five minute walk from Old Town Square. A map of the area can be found here: The best way to get there is probably the Metro, lines A & B of Mustek and line A of Staromestska. It’s quite easy to get to Aloha from Old Town Square, one simply has to take Dlouha Street, make a left turn onto Dusni, and keep going until you reach a passageway in between a church and a statue. Aloha will be just down that passage on the left.
From Sunday through Tuesday, Aloha’s open from 18:00 to 2:00. Wednesday through Saturday, it’s open from 18:00 to 4:00. Obviously, it’s not a late night raver’s scene, but it’s open every night and will show you a consistently good time. It’s a relaxed kind of bar, but things do pick up during the later hours and the weekend DJ sessions.
It’s a Hawaiian-themed bar but there is a wide spectrum of drinks from the typical fruity cocktails and Pina Coladas to beers, wines and spirits. The entertainment consists of weekly DJ visits, during which a fun party atmosphere is stirred up using a wide range of music from the 80’s to the present.
Small and tucked away, with a distinctly nostalgic Hawaiian surfer feel, Aloha is a great place to spend an evening any night of the week!
